MIAMI DOCK

MIAMI DOCK, USA.
A composite replacement of a hurricane damaged concrete pile and a wooden dock with BFRP and GFRP precast concrete components elements and gratings was installed in Miami dock. One of the goals of the project was to eliminate corrosion of the reinforcing steel – in this case Fibre Reinforced Polymers (FRP) composites were used.

REINFORCEMENT OF THOMPSON’S BRIDGE DECK SLABS

Thompson’s Bridge was a replacement bridge to carry the A509 in County Fermanagh. It consists of a fully integral single-span skew bridge. The mid-span section was constructed with basalt-fibre-reinforced polymer (BFRP) bars of 12mm diameter and the remaining slab had 12mm of steel reinforcement.
